Yasser is a Senior Lecturer in Thermofluids in the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering. He received his BSc (2003) from Shiraz University, MSc (2006) and PhD (2012) in Mechanical Engineering from Tarbiat Modares University. Upon graduation until January 2013, he worked as a research engineer in an oil/gas industry . He was a postdoctoral research associate at Delft University of Technology (Jan 2013-Sep 2013) working with Prof Dirk Roekaerts on turbulent reacting flows. In between Sep 2013-Sep 2016, he worked as a postdoctoral research associate with Prof Dame Ann Dowling at Cambridge University on aeroacoustics of gas turbines. Before joining the University of Manchester in December 2020, he was a Lecturer at Queen’s University Belfast.
Yasser has research interest in flow and heat transfer, energy storage, aeroacoustics, turbulent combustion and detonation. Yasser has been a principal investigator or co-investigator for a number of research projects, funded by EPSRC, Royal Society, Invest Northern Ireland and industry. He is the Leader of the “Turbulent Heat Transfer’’ Special Interest Group in the UK Fluid Network, and an Associate Editor for Special Topics & Reviews in Porous Media: An International Journal. He is author on over 40 high quality journal publications, 1 book, 4 book chapters and 35 conference papers.
