Overview

The main focus of Wouter's research at the SCI is on the role of community sustainable initiatives and grassroots sustainability movements in (re)crafting and and spreading sustainable practices. One of the defining qualities of the research is that it is explicitly rooted in a process perspective.

From a theoretical point of view, Wouter is interested in applying a Schatzkian social practice perspective (primarily focused on the concepts of chains of actions and arrangements) in studies of social processes. Methodologically, Wouter's work is focused on the development and application of methods for the longitudinal qualitative analysis of social processes. He is currently working on the development of an integrated, open source, CAQDAS-like software package, called Q-SoPrA.
