Miss Victoria Rimmer

Overview

Victoria is a third year PhD student at The University of Manchester. Her project focuses on modelling the ocular surface during Pseudomonas aeruginosa keratitis, with a particular interest in the in vitro interaction of clinical bacteria, tear proteins and the corneal epithelium. She is the student representative for optometry postgraduates, and also works as a student wellbeing representative across the University’s Division of Pharmacy and Optometry. Further to this, Victoria was the co-chair of the Division’s 2018 Postgraduate Research Showcase, facilitating student presentations and securing funding from sponsors.

Before starting her PhD, Victoria completed her undergraduate degree in Pharmacology and Physiology with first class honours at The University of Manchester, for which she received the R.B. Wild prize for the top student. During her studies, she spent a year at AstraZeneca working on a number of projects as part of the in vivo toxicology team. She has also had experience working in medical communications and project planning
