In 2014, I worked as an Honorary Research Assistant while I was completing my Masters. This involved working with Professor Alison Wearden on a systematic review of carer burden in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. After graduating, I worked for one day a week on mental health research projects as an Honorary Research Assistant with Dr Warren Mansell, Dr Dan Pratt, Dr Sara Tai, and Dr Peter Taylor. These projects included using factor analysis to develop a suicide schema questionnaire, coding therapist responses in therapy sessions using a coding system, and interviewing young people on their experiences of Method of Levels therapy.
In February 2018, I joined the Manchester Centre for Health Psychology as a Research Assistant, working with Professor David French on a project investigating the impact of changes to green spaces on older adults' physical activity and wellbeing (GHIA project). This has involved conducting a qualitative study on older adults' experiences of changes to green spaces, using walk-along interviews and photo elicitation methodology, and conducting Thematic Analysis. My role has also involved organising a qualitative workshop and liaising with stakeholders. In addition, I collected quantitative data on observations of behaviour for a natural experiment, and used multi-level modelling to analyse the data.
In August 2018, I began working with Dr James Rothwell on the Grow Green project in addition to the GHIA project. The Grow Green project is a natural experiment based in the Department of Geography, and investigates the impact of urban greening in a deprived area of Manchester on the wellbeing of residents. So far, my role has involved conducting observations of behaviour and contributing to the development of a survey on wellbeing.
While working on my current Research Assistant roles, I have continued to work on additional research projects in my spare time. This has included interviewing clinical participants on psychiatric wards on their experiences of Method of Levels therapy, co-supervising a junior researcher on a qualitative study on suicide, and contributing to systematic reviews.
