Tess is undertaking her PhD in Sociology within the Manchester Institute for Collaborative Research on Ageing (MICRA) and Manchester Urban Ageing Research Group (MUARG). She is investigating how urban environments can support healthy ageing, specifically from the perspective of refugees and asylum seekers. Tess is particularly interested in using creative and participatory methods.
Tess' PhD supervisors are Dr. Tine Buffel, Dr. Tanja Bastia and Dr. Patty Doran. Her project is part of Urbanisation and population ageing: An interdisciplinary approach to understanding 'ageing in place' project, funded by the Leverhulme Trust (PI: Dr. Tine Buffel).
