Suelen Barg is a lecturer in structural materials at the University of Manchester since 2015. Prior to her appointment she was an Intra-European Marie Curie Fellow following a postdoc at Imperial College London in the Centre for Advanced Structural Ceramics (CASC). She received a PhD  in Engineering with distinction from the University of Bremen, Germany and a degree in Materials Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil.

Her research encompasses the design of novel colloidal processing approaches for the development of structural and functional materials.
