Biography
Stuart Turley has held a Chair in Accounting at the University of Manchester since 1994. He has held visiting appointments in Sweden, Denmark and Australia. Between 2002 and 2012 he was a member of the Auditing Practices Board (within the Financial reporting Council), which set practice and ethical standards for auditors in the UK and Ireland. He has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the European Auditing Research Network since its inception, serves on the editorial boards of several journals, and was formerly a member of the Research Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland,
Professor Turley has held senior roles in university mamagement, as Head of the Manchester School of Accounting and Finance (now part of Alliance Manchester Business School), between 1997 and 2001, and Associate Dean for Postgraduate Taught Programmes in the Faculty of Humanities, between 2004 and 2008. He is a past editor of the British Accounting Review and the International Journal of Auditing.
