Steve first graduated with a BSc in Applied Mathematics from Reading University in 1980. This was followed by four years working for Marconi Avionics as a Radar Systems Engineer, during which time he also completed an MSc in Mathematics from Cranfield University in 1984. He then worked for the next 30 years in various industries including defence, finance, utilities, car production and rail transport, mostly in project and programme management roles. Having retired from full-time employment, he studied with the Open University gaining a first class honours degree in mathematics and physics in 2014, followed by completing two further postgraduate level courses in Applied Mathematics and Space Science.
He is currently undertaking a part-time PhD with The University of Manchester researching ways in which constellations of small satellites can be deployed from low Earth orbit to higher orbits and trajectories beyond the Earth’s sphere of influence. He also has a particular interest in manned space flight to other planets, Mars in particular.
