I joined The University of Manchester in January 2014 as a Lecturer in Healthcare Management.  I am a contributor to the Higher Specialist Scientific (HSST) programme Unit A modules on Leadership and Professional Development; module lead for health economics in the MSc International Healthcare Leadership programme; and an accredited facilitator of the ExperienceChange simulation, the Oshry Organization Workshop and the NHS Leadership Academy's Healthcare Leadership Model 360.

Prior to joining the university, I studied Health Economics and Health Care Management at postgraduate level, worked in the English National Health Service as a manager from 2000-07 and then at De Montfort University, lecturing in health care management from 2007-13, from where I was awarded the Vice Chancellor's Distinguished Teaching Award in 2012 and the University's Teacher Fellowship in 2013.

I was awarded my PhD in Business and Management from The University of Manchester in 2016. My research focussed on a case study of change in medical education.

I am currently working on a research project with Mr Alan Boyd on the impact of the Care Quality Commission on quality of care and co-leading a project with Prof. Mark Exworthy (University of Birmingham) on the professionalization and practice of medical leadership.

In 2017, I was part of the Alliance MBS/King's Fund research team conducting a scoping review of NHS Improvement's Developing People: Improving Care framework. In 2015, I led a writing project for the Higher Education Academy / Advance HE (£25,000), which provided primer guides to teaching topics in higher education.
