My dissertation explores socio-economic and socio-cultic markers in Luke's unique parables in light of those same markers in the material remains of Greco-Roman cities. My thesis seeks to understand the social reality of Luke's audience, their economic and cultic lives, and how that influences their understanding Luke's parables and Luke's purposes in writing the parables.
