After an undergraduate degree in Mathematics, I subsequently completed a Ph.D. in the Artificial Intelligence and Vision Research Unit (AIVRU) at the University of Sheffield, examining neural control of 3D eye position. I then held a two year post-doctoral position with Profs. Laurence Maloney and Mike Landy at New York University, U.S.A. After subsequent post-doctoral work in Glasgow and Cardiff, I took a 2 year break from academia to work in the mathematical modelling group at the Centre for Human Sciences, QinetiQ Ltd. In 2007 I resumed my academic career with a 2 year independent research fellowship from the Wales Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience (WICN). In 2009 I took up a faculty position at the University of Manchester.
