Paul is a first year PhD student at the University of Manchester in the School of Health Sciences. His project focuses on characterising the oral microbiome during kidney transplantation. The main focus of this project is to understand the role of immunosuppression in causing microbiome change. His project investigates links between this microbiome change and post-transplant outcomes (e.g. oral disease, infection, or rejection).
Before starting his PhD, Paul completed his undergraduate degree in Biology with first class honours at the University of Sheffield. Following this, he completed an MRes at the University of Liverpool. Studying the symbiosis of Megaira polyxenophila in the freshwater environment, he graduated with a Distinction before moving to the University of Manchester.
