Dr. Oana M. Istrate has graduated with a Master degree in Chemical Engineering with the main focus on organic and macromolecular compounds and polymer nanocomposites. She has received her PhD in polymer nanocomposites from Trinity College Dublin. The main focus of her PhD was the manufacturing and structural, mechanical and thermal properties of organoclays and polymer/clay nanocomposites. After working as a postdoctoral research fellow at Trinity College Dublin, she joined the University of Manchester as a postdoctoral research associate. Currently, she is investigating the barrier properties of graphene based polymer membranes and the anticorrosive properties of 2D materials/polymer coatings.
