Norina obtained a MPH (Hons.), BHSc (Hons.) and BA at the University of Auckland (New Zealand). Her broad research interests are in the implementation and evaluation of innovative digital health technologies. She continues to collaborate with the Centre for Automation and Robotic Engineering Sciences group in New Zealand, working on developing and evaluating socially capable robots for public and healthcare settings. Norina has previously worked on various digital health projects, using mobile apps, patient portals and social media.

Prior to moving to Manchester for her PhD, Norina worked on a participatory design project to develop home-care and cognitive games robots for older adults. The research team was centered at Ewha Womens University (South Korea) and the University of Auckland, partnering with WEDO (software company), Robocare and retirement villages. Norina also joined the international COVID-19 Stress and Health Study team- a collaboration between the University of Nottingham, Kings College London and the University of Auckland. The study tracked psychological and behavioural changes during the pandemic using surveys and biomedical methods (hair samples), as well as explored barriers and facilitators to using a contact tracing app.

Norina's PhD in Health Informatics is funded by the NIHR-ARC (GM) and aligns with the digital health theme. The project is a realist evaluation of extended reality (augmented and virtual reality) training to upskill care home workers in hand hygiene. Norina continues to seek opportunities for collaboration and since moving to the UK has worked on various systematic app reviews for genomics and cancer apps as well as literature reviews on digital health technologies.
