Overview

I am a Senior Lecturer teaching and facilitating the development of skills and knowledge within the Bachelor of Nursing pre-registration programme. I have specific interests within the biosciences and their application to nursing practice and as such contribute to the developing of this aspect within the current programme for pre-registration nursing allowing students to develop an awareness of the importance of the biosciences to their roles within the clinical environment. I am currently the Field and Unit Lead for the Fundamentals of Anatomy and Physiology for Nursing Practice within the Bachelor of Nursing Programme. I am active in my role as the Senior Academic Advisor and Academic Lead for the Student Experience within the Nursing, Midwifery and Social Division which seeks to ensure the student journey meets the needs of all the Division undergraduate students whilst providing them with the support they require. Utilising my past experience within critical care and in the teaching anatomy and physiology to a wide variety of pre and post registration nursing and allied health students I also contribute to a number of units within the Bachelor of Nursing programme facilitating students in developing their skills and knowledge in preparing them for their roles within a multidisciplinary approach to patient assessment and care delivery. I also act as a specialist reviewer for RCN Publications which provides a resource for both pre and post registration practitioners within the search for evidence for practice and contemporary developments within the skills required to delivery effective nursing care. I am a member of the national Biological Sciences in Nurse Education (BiNE) with seeks to promote the importance and development of approaches to the teaching of biological sciences in Nursing Education.
