After completing my PhD (funded by the scholarship from the University of Salford) in Multimedia Language Learning in 2002, I started to teach Chinese at Contemporary Chinese Studies, the University of Nottingham. Since 2007, I have been a senior language tutor teaching Chinese at the University of Manchester. I have been acting as the editor on the Committee of British Chinese Language Teaching, and on the review board of International Journal of Computer-assisted Language Learning and Teaching. Before coming to the UK, I was a full professor of Applied Linguistics at Harbin Institute of Technology, and worked as a guest professor at Shanghai Jiaotong University and Zhejiang University in China in the field of computer-assisted language learning.
