Mr Matthias Pierce PhD
Research Fellow

Overview
I work in the Centre for Women’s Mental Health on the CAPRI project: a study funded by the European Research Council to investigate the health and social wellbeing of Children and Adolescents with PaRental mental Illness. We are using large registry datasets from England and Sweden to quantify the excess risks associated with this vulnerable group and to identify factors that contribute to their risk and resilience.
Biography
After completing my MSc in Medical Statistics at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, I began my career in perinatal epidemiology first at City University and then at the University of Oxford. I joined the University of Manchester in 2011 to work at the National Drug Evidence Centre on a large linked dataset, investigating the epidemiology and offending of opioid users. I completed a PhD on this subject in 2016. I then worked within the Centre for Biostatistics, investigating methods for combining multiple biomarkers to predict treatment response.
