Biography
In the 1980s I completed my undergraduate education and registered as a Mental Health and Adult nurse before forging an eight year career in Accident and Emergency nursing. I moved to Infection Prevention and Control in 1995 where I worked for Acute, Community and Mental Health Trusts in Lincolnshire before transferring to Higher Education in 2004. I was employed first by the University of Nottingham and then the University of Lincoln under a TUPE transfer arrangement. I moved to the University of Manchester in 2016. I have broad experience in the undergraduate nursing curriculum and have worked as the admission tutor, the lead academic support for the allocations team and taught across modules including, Critical Care Nursing, Research, Evidence Based Practice, Health Informatics and Accountability.
My specialist area of education is Infection Prevention and Control. I have designed, delivered and evaluated related units and content since 2014, across 3 Universities and Postgraduate and Undergraduate curricula. Currently I lead two Postgraduate units in Infection Prevention and Control, and an Undergraduate unit in Delivering Harm Free Care, Infection Prevention and Tissue Viability. In addition I am the Admissions Tutor for the BNurs Undergraduate Programme.
