Research: I currently help to lead a team of post-doctoral researchers and PhD students working on a variety of projects predominantly involving the role of pathogens in the aetiology and progression of cancer. This encompasses basic science, and the identification and evaluation of new diagnostic/prognostic markers. Recent work has also focussed around the generation and testing of new cancer therapeutics.

Widening Participation: I represent the University of Manchester on the national Realising Opportunities Academic Advisory Board for Science and Medicine and I am one of 3 national moderators for the Realising Opprtunities Scheme. The scheme has been adopted by UK Russel Group Universities and is aimed at fair access to University for all students. This is complemented by my ongoing role as an Academic Tutor for the Manchester Access Programme (MAP) and member of the University MAP Academic Advisory Team.
