Katharina Keim is a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow at the John Rylands Research Institute and the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures, and a member of the Centre for Jewish Studies at the University of Manchester.
Katharina completed her BA in Religious and Theological Studies at Cardiff University in 2008, and her MA in Jewish Studies at the University of Manchester in 2009. Katharina continued her studies at the University of Manchester, undertaking a PhD in Jewish studies which she completed in 2014. Her doctoral thesis was entitled, "Pirqei deRabbi Eliezer: Structure, Coherence, Intertextuality, and Historical Context".
Katharina's current project, "The Samaritan Correspondence of Moses Gaster", will bring Gaster's correspondence with the Samaritan community of Nablus (c. 1904-33) into conversation with Gaster's Samaritan manuscripts and archives, held at the John Rylands Library, to gain insight into Gaster's collecting and to evaluate Gaster's scholarship of the texts and objects he collected from the Samaritan community.
