Qualified speech and language therapist
I am a researcher and qualified speech and language therapist with specific interests in the relational aspects of partnership practice in different settings, whether between practitioners and service users, commissioners and providers of services or professional colleagues in multi-disciplinary teams. Many of my projects involve understanding service users' perspectives and how this can influence the way professionals think about their role and practice. I have developed teaching material for pre- and post-registration speech and language therapists, drawing on my research knowledge and experience.
I am currently working with colleagues in primary care and social care, on several studies investigating the perspectives of carers, people with dementia, service commissioning and research methods with people with dementia.
I am a member of the Collaboration for Communication Network, an international forum of researchers for developing the research and practice agenda for co-working with parents of children with speech, language and communication needs.
I am keen to promote applied research and support practitioners in using evidence to improve practice.
