Overview

Dr Joshua Bluteau is a Lecturer at the University of Manchester. He completed his PhD in Social Anthropology in 2018, following fieldwork conducted with bespoke tailors in London and online with the Instagram networks which surround these tailors. His current research interests include the anthropology of dress and adornment, digital anthropology, social media, virtual worlds, notions of masculinity, and the construction of self.

His areas of specialty include: The anthropology of high end clothing, tailored dress and fashion; the anthropology of digital worlds and social media; the anthropology of the UK; masculinity, selfhood and gender.
