Jose is a Peruvian economist and a PhD student at the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research in Alliance Manchester Business School, The University of Manchester. Jose’s research explores the the role of innovation theory in understanding sustainable change in developing countries. He is currently looking into the informal economy, trying to understand those motivations and conditions that influence informal agents to become formal. In more general terms, his interests involve analysing how history builds resistance to change, why actors decide to break away from their own past, and how the collaboration of heterogeneous actors can contribute to the emergence of new socioeconomic systems.
