I am Programme Director for BSc Psychology.  I am a Chartered Psychologist, an Associate Fellow of the BPS and a full member of the BPS Division of Health Psychology. In addition to my teaching at the University, I also provide external (NHS Trust/HE) training in qualitative data collection approaches and qualitative data analysis.I am past Chair and a current committee member of the British Psychological Society's [BPS] Qualitative Methods in Psychology (QMiP) section. I am also a committee member for the national 'Teaching Qualitative Psychology' group.  I have previously been a member of the BPS Research Board and Standing Conference Committee.

I have a particular interest in qualitative research and have co-authored three books in this area. My research primarily focuses on using qualitative approaches and my research interests include the management of long-term and palliative illness conditions, and networks of communication in health and social care. My work is underpinned by a concern with developing inclusive approaches to applied research and I have been involved (with Prof Nigel King, University of Huddersfield) in developing the template analysis approach to thematic analysis and the visual elicitation tool 'Pictor'.
