Overview

Dr Jen McBride is the Programme Director for the joint honours Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychology BSc/MSci which is delivered across the School of Biological Sciences and the School of Health Sciences. Jen is also the Teaching Contribution Lead for the Division of Neuroscience and Experimental Psychology (DNEP) in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine, and Health (FBMH).

Jen's academic background is in Cognitive Neursocience and Experimental Psychology -- particularly in vision, attention, memory, action, and inhibitory control, and how these change across the healthy lifespan and in neurological disease (such as Parkinson's disease).

Biography

Jen earned her BSc in Psychology from Cardiff University in 2003, and after a brief appointment as a research assistent in Liverpool, she moved to the University of Bristol to carry out her PhD (Title: 'Repetition of targets and distractors in visual search: Behaviour and neurophysiology') in the Department of Experimental Psychology. In 2009 she moved to the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience and Institute of Neurology at UCL as a postdoc with Professor Masud Husain and Dr Petroc Sumner (Cardiff University) investigating action priming and control in healthy adults and neuopsychological patients.

Jen moved to the then School of Psychological Sciences at the University of Manchester to take up a lectureship in 2013.
