Overview

My role is Lecturer in International Education at the Manchester Institute of Education, where my research expertise focuses broadly on the internationalisation of higher education. I am particularly interested in international students' transition experiences and the ways that representations of international students are framed by universities and wider societies. Within that, my work looks at how higher education curricula and pedagogies are shaped by internationalisation and through teaching international students. My research takes a critical perspective against pervasive deficit narratives of international students, reflecting on issues of power, privilege, and ethics in internationalised classrooms.

My teaching contributions include leading the research methods support for our MA students as course leader for the Educational Research Methods unit (EDUC60452). I also lead an optional MA unit on Internationalising the Curriculum (EDUC70732) and co-teach a course unit about Internationalisation of Higher Education on our PGCert program.

Finally, I contribute as Departmental Coordinator for our 65+ PhD in Education researchers, including pastoral advising support and leading on discipline-specific PGR training.
