I have been a lecturer in the School of Nursing Midwifery and Social work since 1998.

I graduated from the Bachelor of Nursing degree at Manchester University in 1988. On graduation I worked as a Sister at Styal Prison and then as a District Nursing Sister in East Cheshire. I completed a PhD at Liverpool University in 1996 entitled An Ethnographic Study of District Nursing Work. After this I worked at Hull University and East Yorkshire as a lecturer and Lead District Nurse. I returned to Manchester University in 1998 where I worked as unit Leader on the District Nursing pathway of the Community Specialist Practitioner degree until 2002. Following this I was seconded for two years to the Macmillan Research Unit. I am now a lecturer on the Bachelor of Nursing degree.
