Jamie is a third year PhD History Candidate who is interested in the emergence of the Industrial Revolution, and how it impacted on the health and wellbeing of those employed in the developing textile industry of the late eighteenth and nineteenth century.

Jamie focuses on Quarry Bank Mill, and examines the impact of mill work on three distinct groups: the mill owners the Gregs, the workers and the apprentice children. He explores the impact of the environment, living and working conditions, diet and nutrition on the health of these groups, looking into the injuries and infections which they suffered.
