Ian Crowther, LL.M. (Hons) LL.B. (Hons) (Lancaster), joined the University of Manchester Business School as a Ph.D. candidate in Business and Management during August 2013. Over a 15 year period, he has worked at numerous London-based banking institutions as a Director, specialising in Syndicated Finance and in particular Private Equity driven Leveraged Buy-Outs. Ian has also held senior positions in Loan Origination, Portfolio Management and Secondary Trading of primary and distressed situations pre and post Global Financial Crisis, as well as sitting on the European Loan Market Association’s Legal Documentation and Trade Practices Committee. Through to 2018, Ian will be completing his doctorate on a critique of UK-based financial regulation: heavily influenced by literature on financialisation and heterodox economics through a political economy approach. Whilst undertaking his studies, Ian will also be teaching on Undergraduate, MBA and Executive Centre Programmes that reflect his research interests in heterodox economics, financial crisis and specialist banking.
