Dr Helen White RM, DClinP, Grad Dip Law, PGCert, BSc (Hons) Midwifery
Lecturer in Midwifery
Biography
I am a lecturer and researcher in midwifery at the University of Manchester. My current undergraduate teaching roles include caseload midwifery and leadership in year 2. My research experience includes both qualitative and quantitative approaches, in topics including antenatal care after a prior caesarean section and preterm birth. Previously, I was the consultant midwife for intrapartum care and a supervisor of midwives at Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) NHS Trust. My role included clinical leadership with a particular focus on normal birth, working on the delivery suite and in the 'consultant midwife' and 'vaginal birth after caesarean' clinics. My most recent previous role was as a medical writer. Through this role I developed writing and communications expertise, enhanced my research critical appraisal skills and gained valuable experience working outside of the NHS.
