Overview

I am currently working as a Research Associate in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at The University of Manchester.

I joined the university in 2015 as a PhD Student working under Prof Simon Rowland in the study of polymer degradation under high voltages, in particular looking at electrical treeing. Here I studied alternative experimental designs and chemical analysis techniques which could be applied to further understand the breakdown mechanisms affecting high voltage power cables.

In 2019 I took a role as a Research Associate, joining an EPSRC project in association with Imperial College London and the University of Strathclyde studying DC cables and the impact of power quality upon their health.

I can be contacted by email at: harry.mcdonald@manchester.ac.uk
