I am a researcher at the Alliance Manchester Business School at The Univerity of Manchester. My project is titled: Collective Governance and Innovation.
The Project analyses the governance of a city-region, particularly where this involves multiple cooperating parties rather than a unitary authority; and a desire to include innovation, both in procurement processes and what is procured.
In the context of cooperative public procurement activities, this project will investigate how different ways of forming and governing joint procurement by local public authorities impact on the ability, willingness, effectiveness and efficiency of procuring innovative goods and services. The project aims to advance an empirically grounded understanding of collective governance, in particular the governance of public procurement that facilitates innovation, and to contribute to theoretical debates concerning the enabling conditions for innovating in consensus-oriented collective action arenas.
The contextual focus of thestudy is Central Manchester University Hospital, due to it's high engagement with innovation activities and my past experience working at the Research and Innovation department at this institution.
