Abstract

The monitoring of progress within the construction industry is extremely difficult. There are several activities that require monitoring in real time as they are conducted across many different workfaces. Traditional methods of monitoring progress are inefficient and time consuming. I.T could provide the support required, improving these inefficiencies greatly, but the state of the economy is slashing the industry spending budgets. This in turn is creating a reluctance to invest in I.T when solutions are readily available. The industry needs a company to bring together both the available technology with suitable training and reinvestment in developing these solutions. This dissertation will provide the evidence for the development of a new start-up company React2IT Solutions. With the fact the construction industry is one of the largest sectors and a large contributor to the UK's GDP, the need for improved efficiency is vital to the regrowth of the UK's economy. React2IT Solutions will look to take advantage of this fact and bring together the necessary training and solutions. Evidence of these finding have been gathered from literature reviews, questionnaires and a project case study.
