My current role involves a range of teaching and research activities along with leading several PPI initiatives within the Division. I am passionate about involving people with 'lived expeience' of the issues that we teach about and investigate through research. I have take a leading role in facilitating Patient & Public Involvement in research and in education and co-ordinater the Community Liaison Group attached to the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. I am particularly keen to support and contribute to research that directly addresses the unmet needs and priorities of people who use clinical services. My main research interest concerns psychological understanding of suicidality and helping to develop novel psychological interventions to reduce suicide. I am an experienced qualitative researcher currently working part-time on the CARMS study. I have experience of supervising undergraduates, masters and clinical doctorate students. I am a Registered Nurse and am clinically active in the field of Emergency Medicine. I am also a Director for Stockport & District Mind.


I am a Registered Nurse with over 30 years experience of working in senior positions in the NHS  including Ward Manager, Clinical Nurse Specialist and Consultant Nurse. I grew up in Cheshire but have spent some time living abroad.
