My PhD and Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) research activities focus on liquid-immersed power transformer thermal modelling in steady state for both pump-driven oil-directed (OD) cooling modes and thermosiphon-driven oil-natural (ON) cooling modes. The transformers investigated are core-form disc-type winding transformers, which are the most common type in transmission power networks. The research work is blazing a trail in the field of transformer thermal modelling by introducing dimensional analysis in guiding and interpreting experimental and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation work/results to provide simplicity, insight and universally applicable results that are quantified by correlations equations and verified by experimental tests.
