Mr Simon Parry
Lecturer in Drama and Arts Management

Overview
Simon Parry is Lecturer in Drama and Arts Management and Programme Director of the MA Arts Management, Policy and Practice in the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures. He previously held the post of Teaching Fellow in Drama and Arts Management (2009-2012).
Before coming to Manchester, Simon worked at the charity The Wellcome Trust (2002-2009) where he developed a range of national and international programmes promoting public and community engagement with biomedical research. He has taught at Royal Holloway University of London and University of Klagenfurt (Austria) as well as managed and evaluated a number of arts and education projects across the UK and Europe. He has a BA in Modern Languages (Nottingham), MA in Text and Performance Studies (King’s College London / Royal Academy of Dramatic Art), and a PhD in Drama (Royal Holloway University of London).
He is currently involved in a number of collaborative research and engagement projects. These include: work examining the role of theatre in science education with Theatre of Debate; exploration of the role of performance in developing understandings of dementia with Louise Wallwein, Jaydev Mistry, Manchester Camerata and Dr Helen Pusey; and a preliminary study of the arts in science communication policy with Dr Bella Starling.
Simon is on the board of Contact Theatre.
