Sheena's primary research interests are:
Workplace health and wellbeing, occupational stress, burnout and the role of emotions. She is a member of the University of Manchester’s Health Research Network, Manchester Business School’s Fairness at Work Group (FairWRC), and the British Psychological Society’s Health and Wellbeing Working Group. She is an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Stress Management, an American Psychological Association journal, and the official journal of the International Stress Management Association.
The ageing workforce, in particular with regard to health and wellbeing, older worker competencies, and how retirement issues are being managed in the wake of the default retirement age abolishment and changes to pension entitlement. She collaborates with Professor Dieter Zapf and colleagues (Frankfurt University) in ageing, health and wellbeing and emotion research. She is a member of the Management Board of MICRA (Manchester Institute for Collaborative Research on Ageing).
A prior research focus was in developing innovative training methods in the medical field.
