The experience of 'ageing in place' over time: a longitudinal perspective
‘Ageing in place’ policies have become increasingly common as a means to provide the growing number of older urban residents with both personal autonomy and community support in the cities in which they live. To date, however, there is limited evidence available on the practical implications of this approach and in particular of the perspectives of older residents themselves.
The Experience of ‘Ageing in Place’ over Time: A Longitudinal Perspective seeks to strengthen understanding of this area through an extensive study of selected neighbourhoods in Greater Manchester. The research will combine rigorous theoretical analysis with secondary data analysis and broader analysis of place-based change to develop a detailed picture of ageing against a backdrop of social change.
