My research is primarily aimed towards trying to predict the behaviour of fluid flows by a combination of theoretical, numerical and experimental techniques. Recent work has covered:

  • Geophysical fluid dynamics: Rotating flows, Stratified flows, Interfacial flows, Particle-laden flows.
  • Nonlinear stability of flows.
  • Boundary-layer flows.
  • Exact solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations and their relevance to finite domains.
  • Non-Newtonian fluids.
