I joined the University of Manchester in November 2018 as a Presidential Academic Fellow in Future Cities at the Department of Planning and Environmental Management (PEM). I am also affiliated with the Spatial Policy Analysis (SPA) Lab and the Manchester Urban Institute (MUI). Prior to that, I was a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Trinity College Dublin, The University of Dublin, Ireland. At Trinity, I worked with a team of Urban Geographers and Computer Scientists on the IRC-funded Project, “Surpass: how shared autonomous cars will transform cities”

My research interests are focused on the nexus between transport and land use, and their integrated planning in cities. Key research projects that I have been involved in include understanding user adoption behaviour and impacts of emerging mobility concepts such as autonomous transport and conventional car-sharing on urban environments, modelling and simulating the co-evolution of urban structure and mobility patterns, and understanding the behavioural determinants of sustainable mobility choices such as cycling, walking and car-sharing in cities. My primary background is in the discipline of spatial planning, a subject I explore in my new book: Spatial Planning in Ghana: Origins, Contemporary Reforms and Practices, and New Perspectives published by Springer.
