I started working at the University of Manchester in September 2012. I completed my BA at the University of Oxford (English Lit and Lang) and my MA at UCL (English Lit: Modern Culture). My PhD from Royal Holloway, titled 'Hauntology and Contemporary British Political Theatre (1995-2010)', was awarded in 2010. During my PhD I was on the editorial board of Platform, a postgraduate eJournal of theatre and performance. Before moving to Manchester, I was a visiting lecturer at Kingston University and the University of Reading, a distance learning and study support tutor for Rose Bruford College, and a Teaching Fellow at Royal Holloway.

I have had a long involvement with TaPRA (Theatre and Performance Research Association), as a member and additionally as a Postgraduate Representative (from 2007-10), and as a co-convenor of the Performance, Identity, Community working group (2012-15). I was a member of the 'Inside/Outside Europe' research network, co-ordinated by Marilena Zaroulia and Philip Hager. Since summer 2016, I’ve been New Theatre Quarterly’s Book Reviews Editor.

As well as my academic work, I practice and teach yoga and enjoy weightlifting.
