Professor Agénor’s research interests focus on:

  • International macroeconomics,
  • development economics,
  • unemployment and labour markets,
  • growth theory (with a particular emphasis on the role of public capital), and
  • poverty reduction.

He is widely regarded as one of the leading contributors to the analytical and operational research on the macroeconomics of growth, poverty reduction, and human development.

a) monetary policy with imperfect credit markets;

b) poverty and low-growth traps, with particular emphasis on the role of foreign aid, public capital, and governance; and
