Dr Philip Riley

Philip is a Lecturer in the Division of Dentistry, School of Medical Sciences. He has an interest in all aspects of evidence synthesis with his main area of research being systematic reviews and meta-analysis. He is Deputy Co-ordinating Editor for the international research group Cochrane Oral Health and is an author of numerous Cochrane reviews. His PhD was on the prevention of oral side effects of cancer treatment and he has an interest in the ongoing enhancement of the evidence base for preventing oral mucositis caused by cancer treatment. 

Philip is involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and leads the Critical Appraisal unit for all year 4 dental undergraduates teaching them how to interpret and use evidence to inform their clinical practice. 

Philip has been an invited speaker at international conferences and symposia and has been invited to deliver workshops and teaching internationally. 

Philip welcomes enquiries from suitable candidates who wish to pursue postgraduate research programmes (MPhil or PhD) in any area of dentistry/oral health.
