Biography

I received my PhD from the University of Sheffield in 2010, followed by postdocs in UCL (2010-2012) and Cardiff University (2012-15). This work examined memory and decision making in people with neurological disorders, primarily temporal lobe epilepsy and multiple sclerosis. I was awarded a Welcome Trust fellowship followed by Welsh Government NISCHR fellowship in Cardiff, before joining the University of Manchester as a lecturer in 2015.

My work involves using MRI and behavioural studies to examine how the brain supports memory and decision making.  As part of this, I have received the 'Alwyn Lishman award' twice from the British Neuropsychiatry Association (2009, 2016), the 'Charles Symonds award' from the Association of British Neurologists (2011)  and 'rising star award' from the journal Epilepsy & Behavior (2013). I am currently chair of the Communications committee for the Organization for Human Brain Mapping (since 2018), chair of the BSc Psychology Teaching Board and was admissions officer for BSc Psychology from 2015-2020.
