Dr Shaun Wood

Biography

Dr Wood graduated from The University of Manchester in 2012 with a BSc (Honours) in Genetics with Industrial Experience and in 2013 with a MRes in Translational Medicine. He then undertook his DPhil in Clinical Neuroscience at Oxford University, under the supervision of Professor Robert Maclaren. His doctoral research focussed on using recombinant adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors in a gene therapy strategy to treat autosomal recessive bestrophinopathy (ARB), an inherited retinal degeneration. Dr Wood is now based in the Stem Cell and Neurotherapies group at the University of Manchester, working with Professor Brian Bigger, where his research focusses on producing gene therapy treatments for neurological lysosomal storage disorders.
