Miss Natasha Burns

Overview
Natasha is undertaking a case studentship funded by the ESRC under the NWSSDTC programme. The original project proposal was submitted by the University of Manchester in partnership with the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership and is supervised by Damian Hodgson (Alliance Manchester Business School) and Sally Jacobs (Division of Pharmacy and Optometry).
This case studentship is entitled Working across boundaries: new models of integration and collaboration across the pharmacy workforce, and presents a significant opportunity to map and analyse the new care models being undertaken within the pharmacy workforce. This project will address a significant gap in both academic and policy arenas and is intended to directly inform the development of primary care workforce strategies by the partner organisation, GMHSCP. It will provide insight into how pharmacists are employed in practice and the impact this generates. It will also provide guidance to inform training for pharmacists working within the new models of working. More widely, the research will provide rich insight into the identity work involved in skill-mix change, illuminating how such work is negotiated and accomplished by professionals in primary, community and secondary care attending to modes of employment and organisational contexts.
Natasha has previously held research positions at the University of Central Lancashire (2008-2012) before taking a career break to raise her four children. During this time Natasha manages two large European Funded projects: Globalising European Biothics Education and Alcopop Tv Culture.
