After graduating in Oriental Languages and Literatures at the Université libre de Bruxelles, Naima Afif obtained a Master degree and a PhD in Oriental Studies at the Université catholique de Louvain. Her doctoral thesis explores the first Hebrew version of the Quran made from Arabic during the Jewish Enlightenment in Germany. Her other main research interests focus on contacts between religions and cultures in the East and the Mediterranean region. The languages covered are Arabic, Syriac, Hebrew, Ancient Greek and Berber. Since 2015, she has been a Scientific Collaborator at the Oriental Institute of Louvain (CIOL).
