Overview
Biography
My research has generally focussed on two areas: palliative care/cancer, and gay men's health. The first of these was the focus of my PhD during which I explored the ethics of palliative and supportive community care nursing, paying particular attention to post-structuralist authors. My more recent work focusses on (any combination of the following): LGBT health, HIV, ageing, and 'chemsex' (the use of drugs by gay men in sexualised settings). Again, in this work I take a critical approach to understanding these phenonemon and I am increasingly experimenting with utilising film, drama, pornography and other cultural artefacts as ways to move through and beyond empirical data.
