Biography

Marianne obtained both degrees (BA in Economics with Econometrics and PhD) from the University of Sheffield. Marianne joined the staff at Manchester in November 1997 and has worked on a number of research projects and held a Hallsworth Fellow position at the Centre for Growth and Business Cycle Research. Marianne's recent projects include: 2 ESRC projects based at the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research: Rising Powers and Sustaining Innovation. An ESPON funded research project based at Cardiff University investigating the resilience of regions in Europe and research support on the Industrial Strategy Commission, for more details see http://industrialstrategycommission.org.uk/. 

Marianne is currently working for Professor Fiona Devine at the AMBS. Marianne has a new paper with Diane Coyle in Regional Studies on "The Imperial Treasury: appraisal methodology and regional economic performance in the UK", see https://doi.org/10.1080/00343404.2019.1606419.
