Maja Zehfuss received her doctorate from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Post-Compulsory Education (Higher Education) from the University of Warwick. She taught at the University of Warwick before joining Manchester in 2006. She co-edits the successful textbook Global Politics: A New Introduction, now in its third edition, and has published three research monographs with Cambridge University Press and Oxford University Press.

Maja Zehfuss is the co-founder of the British International Studies Association Poststructural Politics Working Group which she co-convened from 2001 to 2007. She served on the executive of the British International Studies Association from 2001 to 2005 and was a member of the Governing Council of the International Studies Association for 2008-09. She is a member of the international advisory board of the Journal of International Relations and Development and a member of the editorial committee of Manchester University Press.  From 2012 to 2017 she served as Associate Dean for Postgraduate Research in the Faculty of Humanities.
